Špindlerův Mlýn is an important tourist resort in the Giant Mountains.
A picturesque centre with a tourist atmosphere, an important centre for winter and summer sports. The town of Špindlerův Mlýn has about 1400 inhabitants and an area of 7690.91 ha. In German, the town was formerly called Spindlermühle.
Špindlerův Mlýn is located at an altitude of 575 - 1555 m in the Giant Mountains. The highest point of the village is Luční hora - the second highest mountain in the Czech Republic. It is located at the confluence of the Elbe and Dolský streams.
The town is one of the most famous and most visited winter sports centres in the Czech Republic. The bed capacity is about 20 thousand beds. Spindleruv Mlyn has ideal conditions for winter sports. Ski trails and cross-country ski tracks are open up to 5 months a year. The professionally groomed downhill slopes of various difficulty levels have a total length of 25 km. A total of 14 lifts ensure a transport capacity of 20,000 skiers per hour. With one ski pass, you can ski on more than 25 km of groomed slopes in 4 different ski resorts (Svatý Petr, Medvědín, Horní Mísečky, Labská). When there is little snow, most of the slopes are artificially snowed.
Špindlerův Mlýn also offers many attractions in the summer season. During the summer months, conditions are ideal for hiking and mountain biking.
